Is Mathieu Darche a good fit for the temporary vacancy beside Plekanec & Cammalleri? Who would you like to see: Brock Trotter? Ryan White? Tom Pyatt?  Or will Sergei Kostitsyn be the answer once he's back from injury (as early as Saturday night)?

KOVALCHUK!

I think Darche needs some time to adjust before making any decisions.
Putting him on right away with Cammy and Pleks is a tad daunting to anyone, so...

Hehe, I totally didn't answer your question. You're welcome!

Work ethic should be a primary consideration in calling up forwards, there are already many on the roster who are pure goal scorers or have the skills.

I think putting him on a top line right away was the right move, let's face it no one else they tried on those lines was cutting it. Darche has a great work ethic, and he has put together a couple of good offensive years in the AHL.
Let's see what this kid can do!!!

I think we've seen in the past few years how not to handle our prospects. This is probably the area Bob Gainey's done the worst at, and I am a fan of his. The way he and his staff have mishandled Price, Latendresse, Dags, MaxPac etc has been sad to watch, as they've all been said to have huge potential, yet none have grown to show it as of yet (with the exception of Price, but how good might he be now if he had been given a year to grow in the AHL, and would we be having the goalie debate?).
We now have a good coach in Hamilton that is getting rave reviews from each of the call ups. It is my hope that BG and JM have learned from past mistakes, and leave our remaining prospects in the minors for as long as is needed before calling them up. There are many journeymen players out there that we can sign cheaply to fill a role, as we did with Jay Leach earlier this year. I hope we do not see Belle, PK, LeBlanc or any of our better prospects up with the Habs for another year. We have to stop rushing them up, setting them up for failure. To do so is worse than not drafting them at all.
