Most recent one I heard was Marty Turco.

Good idea? Bad?

Worthless idea. What would we do with Turco? In an perfect world he would be a nice mentor for Price and would be a pretty damn good backup too. But I'm pretty sure that he's not prepared to be a backup. He's not old (yet) and probably not ready to take that step down yet.

The Price is right.

Agreed. Halak is the best he's ever been right now. But Gainey has faith in Price. If Halak gets traded, it'll be for a forward, picks, or part of a package. Or he might be kept for a play off run. But not for another goalie.

It would not surprise me to see Pleks, Hammer & Halak packaged to Tampa for Vinny & a pick. Tampa is getting sold, and the new owner has already stated he wants to move him.
It's common knowledge that BG has had a woody for Vinny for years, but to bring him in, he has to shed salary. I don't see Tampa wanting to take on Gomez' salary, but could see them wanting Hammer, who began his career in TB. With Gomez & Vinny, we need to move a center, and wouldn't have the cash to sign Pleks anyway, so add him to the package and allow them to deal with Pleks and sign him to the deal they are happy with or use him as trade bait before they lose him this summer.  I see Halak as part of the package, both to sweeten the deal and make it work. Gainey can't afford both goalies, so one has to go, and I don't see him trading Price.

Will this trade happen....I doubt it, as Vinny has a NTC, but if the new owner gets his way and needs a trade partner....it would work for both clubs.

Vinny will never come to Montreal unless Gomez is going the other way. I at least hope that Gainey would never tie that much into the center position for the long haul!

I agree that is A LOT of money tied up in 2 players for a LONG TIME. I'm also not saying I want the trade, but could see BG doing it.
