I was fortunate (I use that term loosely) to attend the Canes/Habs game last night at the Bell Centre. A game that saw the Habs lose 2-1 after outshooting the Canes 13-2 in the first period. Oooof did I have a hard time swallowing that loss. Not only was there a lack of desperation on the side of the Habs, the fans frustrations took another ugly turn as they booed throughout the 3rd period. This is something all professional athletes go through, usually at opposing teams home turf. Not here. Not Montreal. We are a proud nation of hockey fans. I understand the dissapointment the fans have been going through for the past decade, but to "Boo" your home team? Price was named 3rd star and he hears the "Boo's"? Price didn't have to come out and wave to the fans, but he did and in my opinion that takes guts. I would like to say the "true" Habs fans weren't booing, but let me tell you, after last nights effort, it wouldn't surprise me. They looked flat in the 2nd and 3rd period. Price kept them in that game and has for quite a few this season and especially since the Olympic break. I can't confirm or deny this stat but I heard it from a legit source, in 29 games that Price has played this season, his teammates have scored 2 goals or less. Let's stop the boo's, and acknowledge our players when they have done something well.

I was just about to post about this. I wasn't at the game (cuz I live in Boston), or even see it cuz I was working. But I've read A LOT about it. And even though I don't really expect anything less...it still makes me sad when Price gets the shaft so to speak. I don't want to turn this into a Price/Halak debate, cuz I'm a fan of both. But the crap Price gets just blows my mind. I have to remember back to the 90s when I was first discovering my love of the game, Habs, and Roy to feel this level of confusion. Cuz I remember being all of 15 and wondering how in the world Roy could be booed out of town, then go on to win a Cup and backstop a dynasty for years. I know Price hasn't reached near his level of accomplishments yet, but still I get confused has to how the hometown fanbase can be so harsh on the kid. Even Scotty Bowman preaches good things about him. And if that isn't an endorsement, I don't think even hoisting the Cup in June will endear Price to the city.
